This was inspired by the briefcase as the masculine boxy shape developed into the fashion format of a shoulder pad. The triangular shape that exhibits strength in build inspired this 3 dimensional piece.
THis second piece was inspired by the combination of masculinity and femininity brought out by the briefcase and the oriental jewel box. The box inspired a sensuality that can also be shown throughtthe figure of a woman. This art deco style cut out of a hour glassed shaped woman is held up by a long spine like masculine representation.
This particular piece was inspired by the japaneae ying and yang sign, however a deconstructed version of it. The striking red line is prominent throughout my work highlighting the connection between the ying and the yang.
This piece was inspired rather literally by my grandmas jew box. The striking colour is shown through the bold red fabric and the grey scale prints of the glasses imitate a layering of black pipig detail on the box lid.
